Loading and discharging operations   reached 6,912,000 t, and local cargo carriage totals 3,682,000 t. The   port also transferred 2,186,000 passengers.<\/p>\r\n<h3>PORT REGULATIONS AND NAVIGATIONAL INFORMATION<\/h3>\r\n<p>The   article is written on the basis of the Mandatory Regulations issued for   Nikolaev Merchant Sea Port and affirmed by Director General of Nikolaev   MSP on 1.06.2009.<\/p>\r\n<h3>General Information<\/h3>\r\n<p>The port&#8217;s cargo handling area is situated at: Latitude 46\u00b056?18??N, Longitude 31\u00b057?24??E.<\/p>\r\n<p>This   area is situated in Nikolaev, on the left bank of a curve in the river   Yuzhniy Bug, 40 km upstream from where the river falls into Dneprovskiy   Liman. The port connects to the Black Sea via the   Bugsko-Dneprovsko-Limanskiy Channel (for more detailed information see   Nikolaev Merchant Sea Port). The distance from the channel&#8217;s entrance to   the port is 47 miles.<\/p>\r\n<p>The port waters are linked to the transit   route for ships by the approach channel of 70 m width, 800 m length and   5.8 m depth. Visibility in the approach channel and port waters is 5\u201310   miles and more. The port waters are protected from winds by a high   shoreline to the east, and by a dam to the west.<\/p>\r\n<p><em>Nikolaev River Port<\/em> is navigable all year round.<\/p>\r\n<p>The   port&#8217;s river passenger terminal is situated within city limits, 8 km   upstream from its cargo area, on the left bank of the Yuzhniy Bug River.   The passenger terminal&#8217;s position is: Latitude 46\u00b058?36??N, Longitude   31\u00b057?54??E.<\/p>\r\n<h3>Entering and Leaving Port<\/h3>\r\n<p>A shipmaster or   agent must report its ETA to the Harbour Master 72 hrs in advance and   reconfirm it 48, 24 and 12 hrs prior to entry. They must also specify   the ship owner, charterer, ETA at the pilotage station (reception buoy),   the ship&#8217;s draught, supply and servicing needs, as well as any sanitary   or other circumstances impeding the vessel&#8217;s readiness for handling.<\/p>\r\n<p>Ships&#8217; outward formalities are conducted by an inspector in the office of DMSP port control.<\/p>\r\n<p>Besides   the standard documents, the shipmaster must submit a cargo plan, i.e.   diagram of cargo securing with calculations of vessel&#8217;s stability both   at departure and arrival time.<\/p>\r\n<h3>Navigational Conditions<\/h3>\r\n<p>Entry   and departure of vessels to\/from the port is carried out 24 hours a day   subject to acceptable navigational and hydro-meteorological conditions   but the movement along Spasskiy channel from the roadstead of SE NRP to   the roadstead of SE NMSP at night is prohibited. Transit ships and local   vessels must inform the Port Control and Port Operator on Duty of their   intention to enter or depart from the port well in advance and obtain   permission to pass through the approach channel. Only one way passage is   permitted in the cargo area approach channel. Preference is given to   vessels of 3.5 m draught or more, and when this parameter is equal to   vessels leaving the port.<\/p>\r\n<p>In the passenger area preference is   given to transit passenger ships and, amongst them, to those leaving the   port. Movement of vessel can be carried out only by permission of DMSP   port control and a Port Operator on duty.<\/p>\r\n<p>The port admits cargo   ships of max. 4.5 m draught and max. 140 m length at births Nos. 6, 7 at   the distance of 15 \u043c from the quay wall with the draught of 5.5 m. In   the passengers sector \u2013 with the draught of max. 2.9 \u043c and max. 130 \u043c   length.<\/p>\r\n<p>Similarly, in the passenger area, ships can have max. 2.9 m draught, and be max. 130 m long.<\/p>\r\n<p>Vessels   bound for Nikolaev River Port, after having passed from Nikolaev Sea   Port waters and when navigating from the sea or pass-ing the Spasskiy   channel&#8217;s second bend, moving downstream, must ask the port control and a   Port Operator on duty for permission to either enter the port or lay at   anchorage in its roads.<\/p>\r\n<p>Ships&#8217; inward formalities must be   conducted at the DMSP port control office no later than 6 hrs after   arrival. When the stay is shorter, both inward and outward formalities   can be conducted simultaneously.<\/p>\r\n<p>Transit ships&#8217; departure is formalized onboard a vessel by a Port Control Officer on Duty.<\/p>\r\n<p>Vessels&#8217;   speed in port waters must not exceed 6 knots. Movement of vessels in   port waters is prohibited when visibility is less than 500 m and\/ or   wind speed exceeds 13 mps.<\/p>\r\n<p>Mooring operations by all vessels in   the port (excluding river-sea ships with maneuvering device) must be   performed by means of tugboats. Shipmasters should submit application   for tug assistance to an Operator on Duty via UHF radio min. 2 hours in   advance. Mooring operations are not performed when wind speed exceeds 13   mps.<\/p>\r\n<h3>Pilotage<\/h3>\r\n<p>Pilotage in port waters and by mooring   operations is compulsory. Shipmasters must apply to the Port Operator or   their agents for a pilot 12 hours in advance and reconfirm it 2 hours   before, via UHF radio to a DMSP Port Control Officer on Duty and the   area operator.<\/p>\r\n<h3>Anchorage<\/h3>\r\n<p>There are two outer roadsteads in the cargo area waters: Western and Eastern ones.<\/p>\r\n<p>The   Western roadstead is situated on the left of the port&#8217;s approach   channel and it is divided into two parts by the first bend of Spasskiy   Channel: Northern and Southern ones. It provides anchorage for: 2   vessels of max. 3 m draught and 110 m length in its northern part; in   the southern part \u2013 2 vessels of max 7.8 m in draft and up to 185 m in   length are to use anchors and roadstead mooring buoys, or 2 vessels of   up to 6 m in draft and up to 140 m in length are to ride at anchors.<\/p>\r\n<p>Eastern   roadstead is to the right of the port approach channel axis, and it is   divided into two parts by the first bend of Spasskiy Channel: northern   and southern ones.<\/p>\r\n<p>The northern part is assigned for lying of local non-self-propelled port fleet of up to 2 m draft.<\/p>\r\n<p>The   southern part is assigned for lying of one large tonnage vessel of up   to 7.8 m draft and up to 185 m in length at anchors or roadstead mooring   buoys.<\/p>\r\n<p>In the southern part of port roadsteads it is possible to   load vessels up to the draft of 8.5 m, and the vessels having that draft   can leave the port if it is agreed with the Harbour Master on a   case-by-case basis.<\/p>\r\n<p>Anchorage No. 365, behind the left curve of the second bend of Spasskiy channel, is designed for vessels of up to 5 m draught.<\/p>\r\n<p>The passenger area roadstead is situated behind the left curve of the fourth bend of Spassky channel.<\/p>\r\n<p>The   roadstead is assigned for anchorage of transit vessels and it can   accommodate 2 vessels of up to 3 m draft and up to 110 m length.<\/p>\r\n<p>Port   self-propelled fuelers get berthed in the area of complex fleet   service. Self-propelled purification plant is on the same berth.<\/p>\r\n<p>Oil   carriers can anchor in port roads when this is agreed with a Duty   Inspector of DMSP Port Control, Guard Service and a Port Operator.<\/p>\r\n<p>Vessel   to shore transportation for transit vessels lying in the roadstead is   supplied by port tug on the request of concerned person or via the agent   with payments put in order. Movement of vessels carried out during   daytime. The shipmasters of the vessels lying in the roadstead shall   keep the radio switched on and tuned to VHF channel 16.<\/p>\r\n<h3>Policy on Staying in Port<\/h3>\r\n<p>Lying abreast in port is permitted for no more than two vessels of the same type, except bulk liquid carriers.<\/p>\r\n<p>The   distance between transit vessels lying at the berth must be no less   than 10 m; similarly, for local vessels, no less than 5 m.<\/p>\r\n<p>After   ice conditions are declared, ships&#8217; traffic are subject to the Harbour   Master&#8217;s permission, and mooring operations to tug assistance; moving   vessels not classified for ice conditions is prohibited.<\/p>\r\n<p>For   vessels in transit through port waters, shipmasters must apply to the   Harbour Master as follows: those coming from the sea \u2013 24 hours before   reaching port waters \u2013 by radio; those lying in the port \u2013 6 hours   before departure \u2013 by written application.<\/p>\r\n<h3>Additional Services<\/h3>\r\n<p><em>Nikolaev River Port<\/em> can offer: collection of oily rags, dry garbage, food wastes, used oil,   and of bilge waters, sewage and oily waters which are reprocessed by   the port&#8217;s own purifying facility (cap.: 10 t\/hr).<\/p>\r\n<p>The port offers tug service.<\/p>\r\n<p>The port has: a canteen, shop, medical clinic, and fitness and recreational center.<\/p>\r\n<h3>SPECIALIZATION<\/h3>\r\n<p>Nikolaev   River Port can handle, on its own, up to 5 million t of general and   bulk cargoes a year. It handles: ferrous metals, pipes, iron ore   pellets, ferroalloys, ores, clay, saltpeter, coal, scrap metal, grain,   packed cargoes.<\/p>\r\n<h3>PORT FACILITIES<\/h3>\r\n<p>Nikolaev River Port has its own cargo area and passenger area.<\/p>\r\n<p>The   entire area of the port totals 56.62 hectares; that of passenger berths   and terminal covers 1.72 ha. The overall length of the cargo area   berths amounts to 919.1 \u043c \u2013 with the bank protection of the backwater&#8217;s   face end, the berth in the urban settlement of Matveevka and the fecal   birth (100+61.4+6.4).<\/p>\r\n<p>Techniques have been developed for loading vessels of up to 7.8 m draught in the roads using barges with floating cranes.<\/p>\r\n<p>The overall length of the crane rails is 1,258 m; a railroad branch is available.<\/p>\r\n<h3>Specialized Terminals<\/h3>\r\n<p><strong>Grain handling terminal<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>Grain   is delivered from all Ukrainian regions and is supplied to 20 countries   of the world. The terminal is located on the berth No. 7 and on the   shore strengthening of backwater butted adjoining berths Nos. 3, 6.   Grain handling capacity is 10,000 t of grain a day.<\/p>\r\n<p>There are two overpasses having capacity of 3,000 t a day each.<\/p>\r\n<p>The terminal has sheltered warehouses for grain storage:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n  <li>3 warehouses of accumulating capacity of 9,000 t each;<\/li>\r\n  <li>warehouse for 25,000 t;<\/li>\r\n  <li>warehouse for 4,500 t.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>For simultaneous storage one can use: 4 silo towers of 2,5<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"LOA \u2013 140m Breadth moulded \u2013 16m Draft \u2013 4.5m For vessels exceeding above dimensions pls apply in advance. pier #1,2,3,4,5,6,7 \u2013 4.5m, pier # 6,7 \u2013 5,5m (via stand-off block) Pilotage is obligatory, Tugboats usage obligatory during mooring\/unmooring operations.
